What is an air compressor and how does it work?
How air compressors work: flow, pressure and power. An introduction to screw, piston, oil-lubricated and oil-free compressors.

Check your inputs and transfer the result to equipment selection.
Enter the required flow at Normal and the site conditions. The result is the equivalent volumetric flow at the site. The Normal formula is unchanged.
Flow at Normal conditions is converted to volumetric flow at the specified site temperature, atmospheric pressure and humidity. Higher temperature and lower pressure increase the volume occupied by the same amount of dry air.
K = 1,01325 / (P − φ · pₛ) × (T + 273,15) / 273,15
Qsite = QNormal × K
P is absolute pressure in bar(a), T is temperature in °C, and φ is humidity from 0 to 1. Saturation vapour pressure pₛ is calculated using the Buck equation over water. 1 l/s = 0.06 m³/min.
Ideal humid-air model. Before final selection, check the catalogue reference conditions. Transfer to Configure is explicit; selected equipment is retained.
Enter compressor capacity (FAD) to estimate the required receiver volume.
Enter compressed air flow (FAD), line length and allowable pressure drop.
Minimum, rounded up: mm
Rounding in millimetres does not select a standard DN or pipe outside diameter.
Enter compressed air flow (FAD), line length, actual internal diameter and working pressure.
Estimate water remaining in compressed air with different treatment methods. Results are in l/week and l/year.
| Treatment method | l/week | l/year |

Estimate additional electricity costs caused by pressure losses across filters, piping and dryers.
Weekly cost = (Δp / 0.1) × Q × H × 0.35 × 0.007 × tariff
Δp is total pressure drop across filters, piping and dryer in bar; Q is FAD in l/s; H is weekly operating hours; tariff is in KZT/kWh.
Preliminary estimate of extra electricity costs. The actual relationship between pressure and power depends on the compressor and control mode. The selected currency applies to the tariff and all results.

Conversion factors follow SI and the definitions of the respective units. US and imperial gallons, and mechanical and metric horsepower, are listed separately.

DAUCORE is my personal engineering project. I am building it to help people understand compressed air, check their inputs and make informed equipment choices.

My name is Daurbay Gabdullin. My career began in engineering and metrology before moving into industrial equipment selection and technical sales.
Working at Kazhydromet and in metrology taught me to pay close attention to measurements, inputs and reliable results. My experience at Atlas Copco and iGateway brought real customer applications into that picture: equipment selection, air treatment, operation and ownership costs.
For me, good equipment selection starts with questions: where and how is air used, what flow and pressure are required, how critical are moisture and contaminants, and how many hours does the plant operate? The model and package come after that.

02Build a preliminary compressor, air treatment and gas generator configuration and save it as a PDF.
03Compare purchase, electricity, spare parts and service costs over your chosen period using your own inputs.
04Find practical explanations and prepare the questions you need to discuss a solution with a supplier or engineer.

DAUCORE brings together the Kazakh word Däu, meaning big or great, and the English word core. For me, it represents a strong engineering centre where understanding the application forms the foundation of a reliable solution.
A compressor is often called the heart of a plant. It sends compressed air through piping to tools, actuators and process lines, much as a heart sends blood through vessels. The metaphor embraces the whole system, from the source of energy to every point of use.
DAUCORE takes a whole-system view of compressed air, from the needs of the plant to every point of use. My aim is to make the engineering clear, the calculations transparent and equipment choices well-founded.

The tools use technical specifications from publicly available manufacturer documentation and the calculation models described in each calculator. Results depend on your inputs. DAUCORE supports preliminary assessment; final selection requires checking the operating point and documentation for the specific equipment.

If DAUCORE has been useful, you can support it through feedback: report an inaccuracy, suggest a calculator, share technical experience or recommend the resource to colleagues. For collaboration or other ways to support the project, contact me directly.
