Refrigerated or adsorption dryer: dew point and regeneration

Select a dryer by the required outlet air condition. “Refrigerated” and “adsorption” describe technologies but do not replace operating-point checks.

What pressure dew point means

PDP is the temperature at which water vapour starts condensing at a given pressure. Consider the coldest part of the line. A separator removes liquid already formed; a dryer reduces water vapour. These are different functions, and dryer technologies offer different PDP capabilities.

Read the complete version specification

Check flow, maximum pressure, inlet and ambient temperature. Rated capacity may need correction for site conditions. Compare −20, −40 and −70 °C versions separately even if their base model names match. DAUCORE lists them separately when catalogue data are available.

Account for regeneration air

If the dryer uses compressed air for regeneration, include it in the supply balance. Confirm what the percentage refers to: inlet flow, nominal flow or another basis. Do not apply one percentage to every version. Final sizing needs the complete technical sheet for the selected version.

What to prepare

  • Required PDP
  • Inlet pressure, temperature and flow
  • Version and regeneration percentage
  • Filtration before and after the dryer
  • Condensate drainage and servicing
